1976 AMC Gremlin X - $ 12k

Auction Lot W81, Indianapolis. Rare Gremlin package. Believed to be 36,000 original miles. North Carolina car. Power steering. Factory air conditioning. Correct wheels with correct Whitewall tires. 3-speed automatic transmission. The AMC Gremlin is an American subcompact automobile introduced in 1970, manufactured and marketed in a single, two-door body style from 1970-1978.
The Gremlin debuted in 1970 with AMC's 199 ci (3.3 L) I6, which produced 128 hp. AMC's 232 cu in (3.8 L) @ 145hp, was an option. The Gremlin offered "the best gas mileage of any production car made in America".
AMC promoted the Gremlin as "America's first subcompact" and as "cute and different." By it's final year of production in 1978, 671,475 Gremlins had been built.

The Gremlin is a car greatly ridiculed for it's box-like looks, terrible 70s workmanship, horrid handling and slug-like performance. It is generally recognized as one of the worst cars ever built.
Hagerty suggests a concours 1976 Gremlin today trends around $20k.
