1967 Lamborghini 400 GT 2+2 - $363k

An insulting sneer from the headstrong Enzo Ferrari was enough to motivate Ferruccio Lamborghini to create a better grand touring car than Il Commendatore ever dreamed of. This 1967 400GT 2+2 is an exceptionally rare, highly original example.

The car made $363k against an estimate of $350k to $450k.

The 2020 Mustang Shelby GT500 has a base price of $73,995, which is quickly inflated past $95,000 for a fully loaded model. Ford bills the car as 'The most powerful and fastest Mustang of all time.'

Output is 760 hp @ 7,300 rpm and 625 lb/ft @ 5,000 rpm from the supercharged Cross Plane Crank V8. 16.5-inch two-piece SHW rotors, six-piston fixed Brembo front calipers and advanced chassis tuning are standard. Vehicle valuator Hagerty says that the 2020 Ford Shelby GT500 is poised to become a collectible. Hagerty called the Shelby GT500 the greatest pony car of all time and doubled down on it's Hot List, hailing it as “a world-class track weapon with astounding braking and chassis control.”

1970 Plymouth Cuda - $154k

440 CI V-8 engine. 4-barrel carburetor. 4-speed transmission. Power steering. Shaker hood with hold down pins. Lemon Twist with Black vinyl top. Rear spoiler and window louvers. Bucket seats and center console. Hurst Pistol Grip shifter. Color-keyed mirrors. Elastomeric bumpers. This bold 1970 Plymouth Cuda was the first year on the new E-body platform.

The E-body's engine bay was larger than that of the previous A-body, facilitating Chrysler's 426 cu in (7.0 L) Hemi. The 440-6V made 385 hp.

1970 would be the best year for E-Body models with 55,499 Barracudas and 83,032 Challengers sold. Sales dropped off a cliff and by 1974 the series was finished. This example made $154k, blowing well past it's estimate of $75k to $85k.

1958 Pontiac Bonneville Convertible - $91k

The latest Mecum auction is underway and top lot thus far is a 1958 Pontiac Bonneville Convertible that made $91k against an estimate of $75k to $100k. Unrestored. Original paint. The 1958 Pontiac Bonneville Convertible was the top end, high-performance full-size open-air Pontiac of its time. The car was hugely expensive with an MSRP on par with a fully loaded Cadillac. 3,096 convertibles were produced in 1958. A one-year-only body design, the 1958 Pontiac is considered the signature expression of Harley Earl design. The vehicle appeared at Mecum.

1970 Maserati Ghibli 4.7 Spyder by Ghia - $510k

Production of the Ghibli began with a fastback coupé in April 1967, which was joined by the open-top spyder in 1969. Featuring a race-bred, mid-mounted, 4,719 cc V-8 engine with dry-sump lubrication and two chain-driven camshafts per cylinder bank, the car produced 330 hp.

Chassis no. 1179 is one of 125 factory-built spyders. It was manufactured in September 1970 with the 4.7-litre engine, finished in Giallo over a black leather interior, and fitted with an automatic transmission. That was upgraded to a desirable five-speed manual gearbox. This Maserati has 35,000 miles on the clock.

The Ghibli spyder is widely considered to be one of the finest open grand touring cars Maserati has ever built. Fashioned in the great Italian tradition these cars are intensely collectible.

The car appeared at RM Sotheby's and made $510k.

1965 Ferrari 275 GTS by Pininfarina

The Ferrari 275 is a series of front-engined V12-powered grand touring cars with two-seater coupé and spider bodies produced by Ferrari between 1964 and 1968. The first 275 series cars were powered by a 3.3L dual overhead camshaft Colombo 60° V12 engine producing 260 hp. An updated 275 GTB/4 was introduced in 1966, with a revised four overhead camshaft engine producing 300 hp. The 275 series were the first road-going Ferraris equipped with a transaxle and independent rear suspension.

In all, 474 275 GTB/2’s were built between 1964 and 1966 in three basic series.
