1965 Z16 Chevelle

The Z16 Chevelle was Chevy’s foray into the high-performance, muscle-car wars that had been sparked by Pontiac’s GTO in 1964. 396/375 HP V-8 engine. Authentic documented Z16. Frame-off restoration. One of only 201 built. #36 in the Z16 Chevelle registry Documentation of ownership back to new. 4-speed manual transmission. Power steering. Power brakes. 6,000 RPM tachometer. 160 MPH speedometer.

Finished in Code Y6 Crocus Yellow exterior, its thought less than 80 cars survive. This example made $187k.

Bonham offers Saleen S7 LM

Bonham has announced an auction called Supercars on Sunset, a Los Angeles sale scheduled to take place April 10. An early highlight is a 2007 Saleen S7-LM, one of three examples of the 1,000-horsepower special-edition sports coupe built. It has 300 miles on the clock and is estimated at $1m to $1.3m.

221 Lamborghini SVJ recalled

When one forks out over half a million on a supercar like the Lamborghini Aventador SVJ, you expect it to be built with quality standards. Among those would be a hood that doesn't come flying open. The problem affects 221 examples of the 2018-2021 Lamborghini Aventador SVJ Coupe built between July 4, 2018, and January 15, 2021. This recall has an estimated 100% defect rate.

Lamborghini Huracán STO

This is the Huracán Super Trofeo Omologata (STO) - intended to be the closest thing possible to a street-legal version of the Super Trofeo race car. Its 5.2-liter V-10 makes 631 horsepower and 417 pound-feet of twist. The STO is rear-wheel drive. It will arrive in the spring, starting at $334,133.

1970 Chevrolet Yenko Deuce - $121k

1 of 175 Yenko Deuce Novas produced. COPO 9010 LT1 engine package. COPO 9737 Sports Car Conversion package. LT1 350/360 HP solid lifter engine. 4-speed transmission with Hurst shifter. 4.10 rear axle ratio. Hood-mounted tach. Power front disc brakes. Fathom Blue with Black interior.

Yenko's Sportscar team completed the conversion of the COPO Novas by adding the SS wheels, Yenko badges, decals and stripes, a Dixco hood tach and a laundry list of performance options. The total of 175 cars consist of 122 four speeds and 53 automatics.

The engine is Chevrolet's 350 cubic-inch, 5.7 liter small-block LT1 V8, capable of producing 360 horsepower and 380 lb.-ft. of torque. This kind of engine was normally found only in Corvettes and Camaro SS models. The Deuce quickly garnered a reputation for running and winning against more powerful and heavier machinery. These cars have their own circle and rarely come up for public auction. When they do prices are high. In 2016 a top tier deuce made $160k.

This example appeared at Mecum and made $121k.

Maserati MC20

The new Nettuno 3.0-liter, twin-turbo V-6 spits out 630 hp with 538 ft lbs of torque. Its Formula 1–derived twin-spark-plug, pre-chamber combustion system delivers a faster, cleaner burn and is touted as a first for a street-legal car. The engine, developed in-house, is mated to an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission. The rear-wheel-drive machine can hit 60 mph in 2.9 seconds, on its way to a top speed of 202 mph.

The mid-engine MC20 starts at a rock bottom $210k.

1965 Aston Martin DB5 Vantage Convertible

The most well-known DB5 is the one owned by super-spy Bond, James Bond. But James Bond’s DB5 was just a standard, ordinary saloon model, one of nearly a thousand. For true collector rarity one must have the higher-performance DB5 Vantage convertible, with just seven made.

The high-performance, Vantage-specification DB5 didn't make its first appearance until September 1964. The prototype, DP217, bore the chassis no. DB5/1451/R and came fitted with triple Weber twin-choke, side-draft carburetors along with the five-speed gearbox. The DB5 Vantage's power output was 325 bhp at 5,750 rpm, some 40 bhp more than the standard engine.

The DB5’s reflexes were sharpened in Vantage tune, with 0–60 times dropping to just 6.5 seconds. Chassis DB5C/1924/R is an authentic, factory Vantage convertible.

This DB5C received a comprehensive restoration to concours standards in 2005. The restoration included a professional conversion to left-hand drive. All restorative work was fully documented, and invoices for over $200k are included. This DB5C is a multiple Class Award winner. It carried an estimate of $1.4m - $1.6m.
