For 1968, Shelby and Hertz Rent-a-Car resurrected their "Rent-a-Racer" program with Shelby Mustangs as part of Hertz's Sports Car Club fleet. 224 cars are known to be delivered within a total of 1,053 Shelby GT350 Fastbacks made for 1968. The first cars had 4-speeds, but that was quickly changed to automatics as customers burned out the clutches. |
