1955 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Alloy Gullwing - $6.8m

A rare 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Alloy Gullwing sold for $6.8m at RM Sotheby’s Scottsdale auction. It set a new record for the iconic model. A 1955 Alloy Gullwing that sold for $4.2m at Gooding & Company’s Scottsdale auction in 2012 falls to 2nd place. Chassis number 5500332 is one of only 24 aluminum Gullwings built. It is one of a handful to retain its original, numbers-matching 3.0-liter NSL inline-6 engine, high-speed 3.42 rear axle, front spindles and Rudge wheels, as well as the authentic alloy body and factory-correct livery.
The M186 Engine was a 3.0 litre single overhead camshaft inline 6, developed in the early 1950s to power the company's new flagship 300 "Adenauer" (W186) four-door saloon. It made its debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show in April 1951. Various versions of the engine (M186 – M199) produced from 115–240 bhp.

2018 Challenger SRT Demon - $198k

9 miles. No. 2,746 of 3,300 produced. 1 of 264 produced with Plum Crazy Pearl paint. Supercharged 6.2L/808 HP Hemi V-8 engine with 717 lbs/ft of torque. TorqueFlite 8-speed automatic transmission. Power sunroof. Black satin Air Grabber hood. 18x11-inch aluminum wheels. Demon branded P315 Nitto drag radial tires. Widebody fender flares. Brembo 4-piston lightweight brakes.
Dodge unveiled what it claimed was its fastest muscle car ever: the 2018 Challenger SRT Demon with 808 horsepower and 717 lb-ft of twist. Add 100+ octane gas and that is 840 hp and 770 lb-ft of torque. Quarter mile comes in 9.65 seconds and 140 mph, which means it is legally banned from racing on a track without a rollcage. It leaves the start line accelerating at 1.8 g, hitting 30 mph in 1.0 second. There is enough juice to pull a wheelie, 2.92 feet to be exact. Base MSRP for all that go power was a highly reasonable $83,295.

1968 Toyota 2000GT - $850k

Considered the first supercar and first truly collectible car from Japan, the Toyota 2000GT two-seat sports coupe had a production run of 351 units. One of the 109 export models was sold in California on Bring a Trailer. The winning bid was $850,000 USD.
A 2.0-litre inline six-cylinder engine is longitudinally mounted with hemispherical combustion chambers and a cast iron block. That is topped by a Yamaha-designed aluminum cylinder head.
It boasts 148 hp through a five-speed manual transmission. In America, the 2000GT sold for an expensive $6,800, much more than contemporary Porsches and Jaguars. About 60 units reached North America and the others were thinly spread worldwide. Most 2000GTs were painted either Solar Red or Pegasus White.

2016 Ferrari LaFerrari - £2,142,500 GBP

Only select buyers were invited to buy a Ferrari LaFerrari, one of the 499 examples produced for around $1.5m. This example shows 918 miles and is finished in Vinaccia paint over a Pelle Chiodi Di Garofano leather interior.
A combination of a 6.3-liter V12 and an F1-sourced KERS electric motor blasts 946 hp and 663 pound-feet of twist to the rear wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. Redline is a whopping 9,250 rpm. The LaFerrari hits 60 mph in 2.4 seconds. RM Sotheby’s put a pre-auction estimate at $3-$3.45 million. Outcome was about $2.8m.

2022 Maserati MC20

A new MC20 landed on Bring a Trailer. 86 miles shows on the clock. The Maserati MC20 carries a twin-turbocharged three-liter V6 that produces 621 HP and 538 lb-ft of torque, resulting in a 2.9-second 0-62 MPH sprint and 202 MPH top speed. This is paired with an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transaxle that feeds the rear wheels. The MC20 base MRSP was around $250k. Bids on this example, with a week to go, are already sitting at $280k.

1954 Ferrari 375 America Coupe by Vignale - $2.5m

Within the Ferrari road car lineup there existed a strict model hierarchy. Beginning in 1950, the powerful, limited production gran turismos given the name “America” sat at its very top. The Ferrari 375 America, introduced for 1953, continued the tradition.

Vignale’s redesign of the Ferrari 250 Europa GT-chassis produced 3 examples. A racing-derived 4.5-liter Lampredi V12 produced 296 BHP that was sent to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual.
The car made $2.5m at RM Sotheby’s.

1967 Chevrolet Yenko Super Camaro - $632,500


This car is one of 54 documented 1967 Yenko Super Camaros.
Barrett Jackson’s listing; “simply put, this first-year Yenko Super Camaro 450 is pure American supercar royalty.” The 1967 Chevrolet Yenko Super Camaro, YS-725. The car started out as an already-rare L78-powered 1967 Camaro. It was one of just 1,138 cars to leave the factory with Chevy's 396-cubic-inch V-8, backed by a Muncie close-ratio 4-speed manual transmission. Yenko's upgrade to the 427-cubic-inch L72 brought power from 375 to 450 hp.
Yenko added a heavy-duty clutch and upgraded the cooling system and suspension, all for $677 in 1967 dollars.
