 | The DeSoto was introduced in 1956 and produced through 1960. By 1960 the DeSoto Company, owned by the Chrysler Corporation, ceased production. Under the hood of the Adventurer lurked a Hemi 5.6-liter V8 tuned to 350 bhp. Power brakes were offered as standard equipment and the suspension was modified to help control the horsepower produced by the engine. |

There were no other vehicles offered that could out pace the Adventurer. The base price for a 1959 Adventurer was around $3990, less than most of its competition. This car sold for $330,000, including buyer’s premium, at Barrett-Jackson’s Palm Beach, FL, sale on April 4, 2018. |
