2012 Lexus LFA Nurburgring Edition - $1.6m

A 2012 Lexus LFA Nurburgring Edition sold for a whooping $1.6m at a recent RM Sotheby's Monterey auction. When it launched in 2011, the Lexus LFA retailed for $375k. The more desirable Nurburgring Edition had an MSRP of $445k. Production of the Lexus LFA was 500 examples, 64 of which were Nurburgring Editions. Out of these, only 25 were built for the US and this example was one of only three finished in black.
This LFA was only 930 miles on the clock. Powering the LFA Nurburgring is a screaming 4.8-liter naturally-aspirated V10 producing 562 horsepower.

1966 Ferrari 275 GTB Competizione - $7.7m

During the spring of 1966 Ferrari began building a final series of 275 GTB/C examples. These dozen cars were built on specially lightened chassis and clothed in paper-thin aluminum half as thick as the standard alloy material.

1962 Aston Martin DB4GT Zagato - $9.5m

Top result in the RM Sotheby’s Monterey 2021 sale was a 1962 Aston Martin DB4GT Zagato that sold for $9,520,000. It is one of only 19 DB4GT Zagatos built. Aston Martin turned to Carrozzeria Zagato to build what would be the ultimate DB4GT. Zagato delivered with what is now considered to be their finest masterpiece.

1955 Volkswagen Beetle - $29,700

The Volkswagen Beetle remains one of the world’s most recognizable cars. With development and production beginning before World War II, the “People’s Car” was designed to be inexpensive transportation for the masses.
Early Beetles had a unique split rear window design, which was replaced by an oval rear window in 1950.

Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance - best of show

The 70th Pebble Beach Concours D’Elegance is over. The car named Best of Show was a 1938 Mercedes-Benz 540K Autobahn Kurier. Only three units were built, with this year’s winner being the only one left in the world. Mercedes first presented this car during the 1938 Berlin Motor Show. It was created in-house at the Sindelfingen factory near Stuttgart, Germany, on the supercharged 540K chassis. The chassis features independent double-wishbone suspension up front and a swing axle setup at the rear. The engine is a 5.4-liter supercharged inline-8 good for 180 hp, and paired with a 4-speed manual.

1959 Ferrari California Spider Competizione - $10.84m

Created as an open-top counterpart to the 250 GT Tour de France Berlinetta, the California Spider was developed for the North American market. Between 1957 and 1962, Ferrari built 106 California Spiders on two chassis variants: a total of 50 examples on the original long-wheelbase (LWB) followed by 56 of the later short-wheelbase (SWB). Of the 50 examples of the LWB California Spider built, 10 were supplied in competition trim.
A 2,953 cc Tipo 128D SOHC V-12 engine developed 253 bhp at 7,200 rpm and is fitted with hi-lift cams and a four-speed competition gearbox. Chassis No.1235 GT retains its matching-numbers engine, gearbox and differential. Recently restored and painted with its original tricolor livery.
The car brought $10.84m.

1995 McLaren F1 - $20.47m

A 1995 McLaren F1 sold for a record-setting $20.47 million at Gooding & Company’s Pebble Beach auction. The price makes the supercar the most expensive F1 of all time and is the highest price paid for a vehicle at auction this year. 106 F1s were built between 1992 and 1998. This example, Chassis 029, is the 25th of 64 road cars from the production run. Originally sold to a collector in Japan, the car is in “as delivered” state. It has 243 miles on the clock.

Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa

The Ferrari TR, or 250 Testa Rossa, is a race car built by Ferrari in the 1950s and 1960s. They were introduced at the end of the 1957 season in preparation for Le Mans and World Sports Car Championship races from 1958. The cars dominated their competition, with variations winning 10 World Sports Car Championship races including the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1958, 1960, and 1961.
In all, thirty-four 250 Testa Rossas were built, from 1956 through 1961. The phrase Testa Rossa means "red head", a reference to the red valve covers.
The original 250 TR had unorthodox bodywork by Scaglietti. This model is often called the "Pontoon" TR.

More orthodox bodywork came in 1958. The 250 TRs of 1960 and 1961 were dominant racers, obliterating the competition.
The 250 TR is among the most valuable cars in the world. In 2011, a Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa sold for $16.39m. In February 2012, a 1964 250 GTO sold for nearly $32m. Later that year, a 1962 250 GTO sold for $35m.

1971 Datson 510 - $37k high bid

53,000 miles. Rebello built 2360cc/240 HP Z22 engine. Equipped with 89mm JE pistons. Mikuni 44 carburetors. Ray Reed manifold. Ermish Racing header. Trumpet intakes. 240SX 5-speed transmission. 3.90:1 limited slip differential.
The Datsun 510 became the darling of enthusiasts and club racers. The Japan-only coupe was known as the Bluebird. The 510 was a milestone car for the Japanese car industry and for Nissan/Datsun. Rust claimed most of the 510s in the U.S.This example was high bid to $37k at Mecum.

1966 Ferrari 275 GTB/6C Long Nose - $2.6m

S/N 08431. Factory long-nose, torque tube, six Weber carburetor example. 21,000 believed original miles. Matching numbers 3.3L Colombo V-12 engine. Rear-mounted 5-speed manual gearbox. 4-wheel independent suspension.
The 275 GTB debuted at the October 1964 Paris Auto Salon. Powered by the Colombo-derived 3.3L Tipo 213 SOHC V-12 engine, the 275 series ushered in a new era as Ferrari’s first road model equipped with fully independent suspension and a 5-speed rear transaxle delivering ideal weight distribution and superb handling.
The early short and long-nose 275 GTBs were produced in 1965-66 before the advent of the “four cam” 275 GTB/4 in 1966-68. Rare and highly coveted, the 275 GTB is a true automotive masterpiece.

131 miles. 6.3L hybrid drive V-12 engine. F1-inspired HY-KERS Energy Recovery System. Factory-rated for 949 horsepower. Factory-rated top speed of 217 MPH. F1 7-speed dual clutch gearbox. Iconic Rosso Corsa over Nero leather.
LaFerrari performance is ridiculous, with the 0-60 MPH completed in 2.5 seconds, 0-100 MPH in 4.8 seconds and the quarter-mile in at 149 MPH.
Up for grabs at Mecum this baby was estimated $3 to $3.5m.

Hongqi S9

The Hongqi S9 is from the Chinese-US startup Silk-FAW, a joint venture between China's FAW and American company Silk EV. Power comes from a brand new 4.0-liter V8 with electric turbocharging for a total of around 880 horsepower. A pair of electric motors increase that output to 1,400 hp. Hongqi is short on details but claims the car will deliver 0-62 mph in 1.9 seconds and a top speed of over 250 mph. Hongqi is currently accepting orders for the S9 with 99 expected to be built. The first could be delivered as early as 2022.
Price for those smitten is rumoured to be something around $1.9m.

1965 Ferrari 500 Superfast - $1.8m

S/N 6305. No. 15 of 36 produced between 1964-1966. Reputedly the only Superfast factory-delivered in Nero. Ferrari Classiche Certification Red Book. Purchased new by Count Guido Monzino. Original matching numbers 5.0L/400 HP Tipo 208 V-12 engine. Comprehensive engine rebuild.
Ferrari’s wealthiest and most demanding clients were offered the 400 Superamerica 1959-1964 and 500 Superfast 1964-66. Powering the 500 Superfast was the ultimate development of Aurelio Lampredi’s “Long Block” V-12 engine. Designated Tipo 208, the 500 SF engine displaced nearly 5.0L—4961 cc.
Production included 25 “first series” cars, followed by a dozen “second series” examples, which shared updates with the 330 GT including a 5-speed gearbox. This car was estimated $2m to $2.5m at Mecum.

The car is powered by a Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR-derived, 6.0-liter V12 engine that produces 800 horsepower paired to a six-speed sequential transaxle. Top speed is 230 mph.
