1934 Ford Cabriolet - $39k high bid

84,999 miles. All steel body. 221/90 HP flathead V-8. 3-speed manual transmission. Leather-trimmed rumble seat. Front and rear transverse leaf springs. Mechanical drum brakes. Cordoba Gray with Red accent pinstriping. Brown leather upholstery. Nearly 900,000 1933-'34 Fords were built, while just 22,384, or 2.4% of total production were cabriolets. Cabriolets featured glass windows that roll up and down. The Cabriolet was considered more luxurious because it kept passengers out of bad weather. Top speed was over 65 miles per hour.

Ford introduced its V-8 in 1932, bringing a big engine to the masses. The V8 engine in the 1934 Cabriolet produced a significant 90 horsepower.
1934 was the highlight of the Ford V8s; they were solid, dependable and pretty cars and most importantly starting at $575, they were a bargain. Many body styles were available for the 1934 V8 including the 3-Window Coupe, 5-Window Coupe, 2-Door Roadster, and 2-Door Cabriolet. This example appears at Mecum.
