1948 Lincoln Continental Convertible - $45k high bid

6,368 miles. Comprehensive original restoration completed in 1985 for the Lincoln Continental Owner's Club Western National Meet, where it brought home the Best of Show and Founder's Trophy. 292/125 HP flathead V-12 engine. 3-speed column-shifted manual transmission. Pace Car Yellow exterior. Tan convertible top and tonneau cover. Continental kit. Fender skirts. Red interior. Power windows. Dash-mounted clock. Carpeted trunk. Full-size wheel covers with wide Whitewall tires. Tool roll kit, jack and lug wrench. Original operator's and owner's manuals. Multiple award winner, including First in Class at the 1986 Hillsborough Concours d'Elegance AACA National First Place and Best of Show.
The 1946 Lincoln Continental paced the Indy 500, driven by Henry Ford II, and 201 Cabriolets and 265 coupes were built that year. Its $4,400 base price made it one of the most expensive domestic vehicles. The 1948 model year was the last appearance of the Lincoln V-12 engine and the last Continental until 1956. 847 coupes and 452 cabriolets were sold. Lincoln’s side-valve V-12 would give way to a truck-based, 337cid V-8 in 1949 in the new Cosmopolitan.
The car crossed the block at Mecum.
